Will the Adduction of the Waist of the Environmentally Friendly Oil Filter Affect the Filter Performance?

Automobile oil filter (referred to as oil filter in short) is one of the maintenance parts most frequently contacted by car owners.

Generally speaking, there are two different types of oil filters: spin-on type(also called integrated) oil filters: oil filters with iron shells. Car owners only need to unscrew the old oil filter and replace with a new one, so the operation is simple; modular type (also called split type or environmentally friendly) oil filter: oil filter with "naked" filter paper. When it is replaced, just open the shell of oil filter and replace the filter element inside.

Although the two types of oil filters have different structures, they essentially filter out the impurities in the oil through filter paper.

If we have a close observation, we can see that the general high-end car prefers the split type environmentally friendly filter. In addition to environmental protection, the environmentally friendly oil filter has another advantage: the quality of the filter paper can be seen more intuitively. Of course, the main reason is that there are more parts in high-end cars, so the space left for the engine appears to be more precious. In this case, the use of environmentally friendly oil filters can save more space. However, many car owners will find that the replaced environmentally friendly filter will have the phenomenon of waist adduction as shown in the figure below. Will this phenomenon affect the filter performance of the filter?

So, why does the environmentally friendly oil filter suffer from waist adduction? Will the adduction of the waist of the oil filter affect the filtration performance?

Causes:

Under normal circumstances, there are two main reasons for this kind of waist adduction:

1. If there are too many impurities in the oil, after 5000 kilometers of use, due to the high filtration accuracy and large dust holding capacity of the oil filter, after a period of use, the surface of the filter element will cover more impurities, which will increase the oil pressure, which may cause deformation of the oil filter.

2. Due to the size difference between the inner diameter of the oil filter and the outer diameter of the support tube, there is a certain gap between the inner diameter of the oil filter and the support tube. The waist position in the middle of the oil filter is the weakest position in the entire filter element. After a period of use, the pressure difference of the filter element will continue to rise, and the oil pressure on the filter paper will become greater and greater, and therefore the waist position of the oil filter will sink inward.

Impact on the filter performance:

With close observation we will note that if the replaced oil filter only shrinks in the middle of the waist, but the overall size, the welding condition of the upper and lower end caps and the filter paper, and the flatness of the upper and lower end caps of the oil filter are all intact, it will not affect the overall filter performance of the oil filter and the product.

In order to avoid this kind of situation, the technical department of Filton factory has been insisting on comparing the various size requirements of the filter with OE parts and counterparts, and continuously optimizing the dimensional allowance of the product to achieve the original quality. Filton insists on excellence in quality and constantly strives for perfection!
