What Are the Consequences of Using an Inferior Auto Fuel Filter?

Ⅰ. The role of a fuel filter

What are the consequences of using an inferior fuel filter? In fact, the main function of a fuel filter is to remove the solid debris contained in the fuel and prevent the fuel system from clogging (especially the fuel injector) to reduce mechanical wear and tear to ensure the stable operation of the engine. In addition, a fuel filter also has the function of filtering moisture to prevent the fatal damage to the engine caused by moisture.

There are two types of fuel filters. One is an external filter, which is generally located in the lower part of the chassis. The other is an in-line filter that sits in the tank. Among them, the external filter can be divided into two types: general straight-in type and with oil return line.

Different vehicles have different replacement cycles for a fuel filter. It is generally recommended that the auto fuel filters are replaced once every 50,000-70,000 kilometers. In areas with poor fuel quality, the filter replacement cycle should be shortened appropriately.

Ⅱ. Problems caused by the irregular replacement of a fuel filter

The function of a fuel filter is to filter impurities in the fuel. After long-term use, the interior of the auto fuel filters may be blocked by impurities, which will affect the fuel supply, resulting in reduced fuel supply and difficulty in starting the engine. A fuel filters long-term clogged can cause premature failure of the gasoline pump.

Ⅲ. The result of using unqualified fuel filter

The raw material of the inferior fuel filter is poor and cannot achieve the expected filtering effect. If the defective filter is used for a long time, the filter element may block the oil circuit, resulting in a lack of fuel pressure and the vehicle cannot be started.
